In this 31st edition of the General Assembly of the ENGSO, the activities, reports and presentations of 2022 have been explained; and ongoing projects and seminars on fundamental issues for the future of sport in Europe have been discussed
The Unió de Federaciones Esportives de Catalunya (UFEC) was present at the General Assembly of the ENGSO (European Non-Governmental Sports Organisations), which took place in Crete (Greece). The ENGSO is a non-profit organization that acts as the umbrella organization of the National Olympic Committees and the National Sports Confederations responsible for grassroots sports in 33 European countries.
In addition, the UFEC works together with the ENGSO in different European projects, such as GAP Women, a project led by the UFEC and which has the ENGSO as a partner; and the already completed SPIRIT and ASPIRE projects and the current CHANGE project, where the ENGSO is the coordinator of all of them and the UFEC acts as a partner.
At the conference, the results of the ENGSO's current projects and the action plan for 2023 were explained. On the other hand, several spaces for debate and knowledge transfer were also organized on fundamental issues for the future of sport in Europe, such as sustainability or equality; and the funding options available through the Erasmus+ program.
In this sense, the UFEC has been represented by its president, Gerard Esteva; and the head of the Social and International Action Departments, Milena de Murga. The president of the ENGSO, Stefan Bergh, also attended; and the Greek Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, who expressed his support for the hosts Hellenic Paralympic Committee and athletes Evanthia Bournia and Andreas Katsaros, who shared their stories of empowerment through sport .
